Fashion designer Sonja Duvall has been receiving a number of death threats. The local police finally call in the detectives when an attempt is made on her life during an interview at her home. Sonja is giving a fashion show in a church and Grisham assigns Slade to act as a personal body guard. Grisham also assigns Slade to sleep in the church for extra security the night before the show.

On the day of the show Slade is knocked out put in the boot of a car and almost killed when the car is set alight. However the car suddenly unlocks itself, and he manages to kick his way out. Alas while Slade runs from the exploding car Sonja is shot on the catwalk at the end of the fashion show. A man saying he is a doctor comes forward and moves Sonja under protest from Turner. Someone is seen hiding in the shadows with a gun, and the entire division runs after them. Alas the suspect is lost on the tracks of a local train line.

The prime suspect for the murder (Sonja's sister Linda) appears to have cleared out her closet and done a runner, but Turner refuses to believe it was her. Slade goads her into proving her theory by travelling back in time to solve the mystery. They manage to travel back twenty hours which causes some problems as Turner has to find somewhere to sleep as she can't go back to her flat because she is already there! Slade offers to put her up for the night (as his other self is sleeping in the church)...but alas nothing happens, strictly friends! (DOH!) They go to Linda's flat the next day (which is the top bit of Sonja's house) to search for clues, and find all her clothes still there. Surely if she was going to kill her sister and run, she would have packed in advanced argues Turner.

Turner and Slade then turn up at the fashion show, where Turner follows Slade's other self to see who knocks him out. She follows the car, and unlocks it so Slade can kick his way out! Meanwhile Slade lies in wait in the shadows to see who shoots Sonja. Alas all he sees is a man come in and lie the gun on the floor then walk out. He picks up the gun with a handkerchief, and it is then that shots are heard. So the man in the shadows turns out to be Slade! He does a runner and eventually loses the police at the train tracks, where Turner picks him up in the car. (she'd realised that the mystery gunman was Slade!).

They then hold a stakeout at a rented flat, and find that Sonja isn't dead! It was all an insurance fraud to get their hands on a three million pound pay-out! The doctor who saw to Sonja when she was supposedly shot, was also in on the scam. He helped switch Sonja's body for Linda's. Everyone saw Sonja get shot and so didn't bother checking the body. It was in fact Linda's body in the morgue!
