Background information > Cast & Characters > Kate Grisham
Who is Kate Grisham?
Grisham is a strong woman, well she has to be because of the position she is in. Not many women are heads of police divisions! Having said that, Grisham is not without compassion. However she will not suffer fools easily, which begs the question, why does she put up with Morris?! She has been in the police for twenty-seven years, and therefore has a wealth of experience to draw from.
We know little of Grisham and her past. We know she is married, because Nicky was seen correcting the bank manager in The Lottery Experiment. However we don't know how long she has been married or what her husband does for a living. Spouses of policemen and women often resent the job their partners do, as they could very easily become widowers! Thus he may possibly be in the police force (as he understands the risk they both take) but we have no real proof of this.
Grisham takes her job very seriously, and works hard at it. However she seems to know when to quit, and won't take her work home with her. She is a damn good detective, and leader of her division. She will rarely go out on a limb without proof, and sometimes this causes tension between her and Slade. However if she feels something is right, she will agree to go along with what appears to be a foolhardy plan.
She is a good leader, and will always keep people like Slade in check. She respects the job Holly does, but gives the impression Holly is only there to provide the forensic evidence to back up her cases. She prides herself by doing things by the book, but is willing to bend the rules if it will result in a conviction.
Grisham appears to be a football fan, having a Liverpool FC mug and a football on her desk.
The best five words that describe her are:-
- Intelligent
- Responsible

- Reliable
Grisham's home
We have never seen Grisham's flat, but some assumptions can be made. It is unlikely to be a flat. She is married, and it is more than likely that she lives in a house with her husband. The size of the house will depend on whether she has children or not. It's likely that she has, as she appears to be a dab hand at controlling Slade, something only a mother could do!
Grisham's Love-life
By all accounts Grisham appears to be a happily married woman, however no real proof of this exists so it is hard to say. Having said that a woman like Grisham is a prise catch, and any man would be a fool to let her go. Although if her spouse isn't in the police force, there may be on-off tension about her job.
